Vampire

In all of the many books and series that include Barnabas, there is usually a reference to Barnabas and Team BMW, or the Beer Competition, or Beer Contest Win. Or Barnabas, Bobcat, Marcus and William, and beer brewing. This story can be found in Frank Kurns Stories (one of the TKG series), Book 4, Challenge, in the second part,Seed Vault. It is extremely enjoyable, and demonstrates just how sneaky Barnabas really is !

Ranger #1, and one of the sneakiest characters in any of the Universes.

First appears as major character when he visits the Colorado Base (TKG07 Kneel Or Die/25). He had visited David shortly before that (TKG07 Kneel Or Die/07), and was told that Michael had a new interest, so went off to investigate. Met Bethany Anne, Lance, renewed relationships with Michael, Stephen, Gabrielle. Learned of David's death, also that Hugo and Petre were definitely dead.

Was insane for 6 months, 6 days at one time, because the woman he loved, Catherine, was taken from him. Killed over 3000 people in revenge. Eventually, his intellect pulled him out of his Time of Disgrace. Studied intelligence from that time forward, but eventually learned that intelligence and neutrality are not the paths forward -Forgiveness, atonement, belief and action are.

Is always angry. It never goes away, which is why he seeks to stay calm. Occasionally he loses the battle and is momentarily blissful. Begins to realize he is again becoming more addicted to violent actions, resigns as Ranger, wants to begin his own, individual Vigilante operation (TKG21 Life Goes On/25) , probably based out of High Tortuga/Devon, after Bethany Anne leaves. Will coordinate with Lance, and Bad Company. Acquires Ranger Prime and Shinigami as ships for his activities.

He would say that he was here because he knew there was still injustice to be rooted out. From what he had seen of the universe, there would always be injustice. There were always people who wanted to see what they could get away with. "It was the killing that felt good. I’m not entirely human anymore, and I don’t even know what “human nature” is. I’m a predator, Shinigami." You were a monk and you don’t know anything about human nature? What does being a monk have to do with it? I became a monk to learn to control myself and to be part of something larger. None of it was about glorifying myself, certainly not as I was then. And you think you’re going back to that now? He shook his head wearily and closed his eyes and let the anger sink back into the recesses of his mind. That was the trick to this: you could always get rid of anger if you wanted to. Often he did not want to. Anger slipped into his mind with a comforting familiarity. It whispered for him to break the rules because he worked for a greater good. And then when you weren’t looking, you crossed lines and found yourself with more blood on your hands than you could ever atone for.

Yes, Barnabas admitted after a moment. That’s what I’m afraid of. "Look, for what it’s worth, I don’t think there’s any danger, Shinigami, " told him finally. I think you’re worrying about nothing, the way humans do all the time. You became a monk, you made your choices, you’ve served Bethany Anne. You’ve chosen the way you want to live. You should put your trust in that. But if you can’t? Yes? If you start to go apeshit, I’ll call the Bitches and they will fuck you up.
