Michael, world’s Vampire #1, decides he needs a 2nd in command. After consulting with associates, etc., he interviews Bethany Anne Reynolds, and chooses/hires her. The title is apt, because that is how Bethany Anne fulfills Michael’s dream, by dying. Becomes a vampire, meets TOM, and changes into a world force for good, beginning the Kurtherian Gambit Series.

Chapter 01

Bill, on assignment from Michael to take down Nosferatus and get serum, is blown up in that endeavor, forcing Carl to waken Michael with that notification. Michael desperately needs an agent to handle his Unknown World affairs, as Bill had done, and contacts Carl and Frank to start search among possible candidates with a military background who might serve in that capacity.

Chapter 06

When old vaults were being cleaned out on Level 5 of the Military Base in the Colorado Mountains, letter attached to the inside of the door, addressed "To the Base Commander" "On Your Honor. " appeared. Gen Reynolds goes down, collects letter. General Reynolds reads the letter of Honor, speaks with Michael, anticipates visit from him, from “The man who is going to tell you about the past, the future, and the vault.” General Reynolds calls Frank to verify validity of Debt. Long discussion. Agrees to meet with Michael. Talks to Tom Swenson re history of Vault 5, story of last 3 men interviewed. Died or insane. Military has only one who would fulfill all of Michael's requirements, Bethany Anne Reynolds. Will come to Base to interview with Michael

Chapter 08

Bethany Anne arrives at Base, checks in, later meets with her father. Sees Michael leaving office as she arrives. Talks with Dad about their family history. Dad learns she has only six months to live. Explains what the job will be about, working with Michael. Lots of history, vampires, Nosferatus, etc. Lance and Bethany Anne "go out on the town", for one last night. $32,000 worth.

Chapter 09

Bethany Anne meets Michael next day, in Vault 5. Bethany Anne meets Michael, discusses turning, job, responsibilities. No one ever came out. 1/2 Hr later, plane left for East Coast.

Chapter 11

Bethany Anne and Michael go to Carpathian Mountains, Romania, to find space ship, with alien who had created Machael, so that the same transformation might be applied to Bethany Anne. COLD ! ! in the mountains! Michael considering going to sleep forever, leaving Bethany Anne to take over. Considered that she would be qualified if he were not there.

Chapter 15

Bethany Anne awakens in Pod, hears someone talking, starts to remember trip, mountains, etc. Alien talks to her, explains that he had done sloppy job on Michael, and had done better on her., that he was symbiotically attached and had created multiple connections with both her physical and neurological systems. She had been in pod only 15 minutes of her time, 179 days of earth's time. She realizes that he is actually a part of her, and cannot be exhumed - connected to her nervous system. Learns Michael is not there. Exits pod, begins to notice physical differences. Learns she is tapped into Ethereal dimension for energy, will not need as much food or water, very little blood, but it also could provide energy.

Chapter 17

Bethany Anne hears about alien's history (Kurtherian Good clans and Bad clans) crash of ship on Earth, names alien TOM (I’m not terribly fond of Thales or Miletus. So, I’ll call you TOM as a shortened version.”Small computer (dark-green lattice-looking material) inserted behind ear, so that when they left ship, TOM could communicate. Bethany Anne checks out rest of TOM's ship (description), begins to realize her changes (fast healing, strength, longer legs, etc, (See Technology, Pod-doc Enhancement and Characters, Bethany Anne Reynolds). Need extra filter for best communications. Bethany Anne leaves ship, exits to civilization. Gets down mountain to about 10 - 15 miles from Brasov, when smells two humans close by (male & female). Enjoying heightened sense of smell, leaping 20 feet in one bound, faster reactions,etc..Getting closer to humans, when heard a gunshot.

Chapter 14

Nathan (a werewolf) reads message in Los Angeles paper, “The Archangel has awoken! New cherubim has been picked and the land of the Gentiles will receive their due. Time to visit the promised land and take back what is ours! ", and knows that, as Michael's liaison with the world, he will have lots of work to do in the near future. Nathan receives call from Frank Kurns. Michael missing, Nathan needs to go and find new agent. Last contact with Michael was in Carpathian Mountains in Europe, so that's where Nathan should go to start. Nathan arrives in Brasov, arranges for trip to mountains to find Michael. Meets Ecaterina Romanov, who will guide him, and her brother, Ivan who will supply him. On second day of trip Nathan and Ecaterina attacked.

Chapter 23

First shot, Nathan shot in shoulder, silver bullet so HURTS, cannot heal properly. (Silver used to kill weres). Ecaterina grabs rifle, sinks back into underbrush. Nathan grabs Bowie knife, attacks were who approached him (broke his neck). Ecaterina captured by other were, beaten, bad cut over right eye). Nathan angry, changes to werewolf to better fight the Brasov Pack. Alexi (were bear, Ecaterina's uncle) hears Ecaterina, fight, comes roaring in to help, is shot in right shoulder, back left leg. third shot would have killed him, but shop heard from upper mountain, and were dead. Alexi goes to protect Ecaterina. Nathan attacks third wolf, as fourth wolf comes up to join fight. Now 1 vs. 2. Bethany Anne hears shots, one from sniper, transfers to sniper, (first Etheric transfer) kills him.(Needs energy, so eats/drinks from body) Goes down to fighting group. Nathan realizes Bethany Anne, vampire, had joined fight. Killed one were, captured other, (Algerian, head of the Pack) had both Nathan and were change back to human form. Took silver out of Nathan's and Alexi';s wounds, started to heal. Talks to Algerian, discovers that Petre, Stephen's second son, had sent the Pack to kill them. Sentenced Akgerian, to death because he had disobeyed her instructions to change back. Allowed Alexi to kill him, matter of honor. Talks to Nathan, realizes that he was from Michael's group. After fight, talks to TOM re need for energy in activities, what happens in transformations, why not everyone would become a vampire. (See Technology, Pod-doc Enhancement,transformation). Decides first, most important task is to get information, from Nathan, from TOM, and from Petre.- what had happened to Michael, how were the new type of vamps different, who was trying to get rid of her, how she would get funding for her future activities. Bethany Anne decides to visit Petre.

Chapter 24

Alexi and Ecaterina, best trackers, would look at Petre's house, size up the possibilities of entrance. Nathan and Bethany Anne talk about Stephen's (Petre's father, Michael's brother/son) possible reaction to death of Petre. Bethany Anne posits formation of Nosferatu, new kind of Vampire.

Alexi and Ecaterina to go back and search for Petre's boltholes (hidden exits from house). Nathan to approach house, with Bethany Anne as "prisoner", to gain access to house when Nathan "surrendered" her. They gain access, Petre takes Bethany Anne, allows another vamp to guard her, walk off with Nathan to another part of the house.

Nathan hears gunshot, runs back to find Bethany Anne shot through chest, BIG hole! She gets mad, gets up and kills two who were guarding her. Petre has escaped, using a bolthole.

Ecaterina and Alexi, waiting by the boltholes, hears Petre coming out, hear him scream as he is caught in a bear-trap. He didn't notice the trap (broken left leg) because he was looking at Ecaterina's "wiles". Bethany Anne knocked him out, dragged him back down into tunnel he had just used to escape. Took him into house, will question him, put him in the sun (kill him), burn house to ashes. Bethany Anne grants Ecaterina's wish to accompany her on her further travels.
