First named, appears only after She and Ashur have known each other for awhile (5 pups worth!)

Enhanced, can communicate. Wants another litter after pups adopted out. Ashur avoiding more pups.

Frank Kurns Stories

Bellatrix' details were more extensively written by Frank Kurns in his Novella, Bellatrix. (Frank Kurn's Stories.) They are included here not because the book is, but because whoever did the Wiki is a dog lover, and just HAD to know!

Human plot: Yelena, suffering from an abusive relationship, comes back home to rural Romania to recuperate live with Mom. Her twin brother,Alec, also is there, visiting and looking after her. She had always "had a way with dogs", so helped out in a local kennel, which bred German Shepherds. Coincidentally, one of the females had just had a litter of 5, and Yelena was attracted to and took for hers the runt, which she named Bellatrix, meaning lady warrior and bringer of light. Somehow, whenever she was around Bellatrix, images came to mind, of things the dog might be doing or feeling. Probably just because she was so lively and active! Yelena's old boyfriend came to her town, tried to force her to come back, NO ! He beat her, and Bellatrix attacked him (still a two month old puppy). Alec came, and made sure he left, but Yelena vowed to learn how to fight and take care of herself. And that Bellatrix would learn, also. (Family secret- there were rumors of werewolf blood in their history, generations back!)

Dog plot:Two years passed, while Yelena and Bellatrix improved their communication. Yelena swore that Bellatrix was talking to her (mind-think), but, of course, that COULDN'T be so! Alec is kidnapped and tortured, almost killed, for something he did not do (mistaken identity), and Yelena and Bellatrix vow to find him and save him. (Because of the twin relationship, Yelena can feel everything that Alec can). In the process of finding him, they encounter Bethany Anne, Ashur, Peter, John, Eric and Ecaterina, who were looking for the people that had taken Alec in error. Bethany Anne's group immediately know that she has were background (though weak), and convince her that werewolves are NOT a myth, and that her communications with Bellatrix are, indeed, true and positive (because of common background), and that Alec was also Wechselbalg.

Bellatrix and Ashur meet for the first time, and, of course, are immediately interested in each other. They hide out in the woods, keeping watch, while the humans go about their business of cursing, killing, and mayhem. Bellatrix senses Yelena's fear and pain, and comes into the house to be with her, and saving Yelena's life by taking a bullet that was meant for Yelena.

As Bellatrix is almost dead, Bethany Anne sends her up to the G'laxix Sphaea. her ship, to put Bellatrix into a Pod-doc. They also treat Yelena and Alec, making them aware of their heritage, and that it was really a good thing.

Three days later, when Yelena exits from the Pod, after seeing her brother off to home, she and the group see Ashur and Bellatrix come out from behind the bushes, looking guilty. Looks like there may be pups around soon!

Yes, Bellatrix DID have mind-speaking capabilities with Yelena, although they were not used actively with others, except, perhaps, Bethany Anne. Bellatrix DID come out of pod larger, healthier, smarter. Mated with Ashur, did have puppies, went into space.
