Humans had always watched TV, videos, movies, sports, etc., and when they migrated to other worlds, they also took them (copies) with them. There are many references, throughout many books, to popular TV shows from the Earth years 1950's on through time of expansion, to comic books, to cartoons, to movies, to music, to whatever each character might have remembered from their past. There are too many to mention, or to have taken note of.
