A species native to the Tissikinnon system, living mostly on Tissikinnon Four, further from their sun that Tissikinnon Three, which was at the near edge of the Goldilocks zone, and uninhabited. Several small moons, which threw little light onto the planet, making the nights extremely dark. Many off-planet worlds called the inhabitants Tiskers.

The inhabitants of the planet called it Poddern. They were a bi-pedal group, with stumpy legs, bodies encased in shells (turtle-like), with tall stalks emerging from the centers of their shells, carrying nerve branches to their heads. These nerves were extremely sensitive to pain, and if anyone injured or tried to kill them by attacking their necks, the individuals died from pain and in extreme agony, rather than from injury or bleeding. They had spindly arms, as well as tentacles emerging on their necks, which could hold items. Their heads held four eyes, one on each side of their head. They were blue skinned, blue shelled, and blue-blooded, the hue of their skins reflecting sex and individuality. Punching them was like hitting a tree trunk, and individual hand-to-hand combat was not advised. They lived underground on their planet, with extensive tunnel systems, fields of mushroom-like crops, water, etc.. They also traveled underground, very seldom going to the surface. They did not like bright lights, which were actually used in combat against them to confuse them.

There were various groups of Podders, speaking various Podder languages (much like different countries of Earth), leading to the dispute in Book 1, The Bad company. These groups also fought amongst themselves, as did Earth people.

They had no tactical sense of fighting. All they knew how to do was to fight and die. Terry Henry thought it was like fighting school kids- although they had banded together to cleanse the planet of Crenellians and humans, or all die in the attempt. The Crenellians had already killed over one million of them when Terry Bad Company came onto the planet.
