BARNABAS

TVC 01/17

Barnabas had particular tastes in his armor. This is how he dressed when he fought for the mine workers in TVC 01/17 , Vigilante:

Armor still had a ritualistic significance to him. Preparing for battle was a contemplative time. He went over his reasons and examined his methods. He was ready to kill without hesitation and he knew plans could change in an instant, but he liked to assure himself that his plan that would lead to the least bloodshed.

Barnabas slid a light vambrace onto his forearm and flexed his hand as it settled into place. He could have armor that suited any aesthetic, so Barnabas chose to have armor that reminded him of his faith. When he had mentioned this, others had asked him if he intended to have religious symbols on it and suggested a silver or gold finish. Barnabas had only smiled.

His armor was an unadorned brown, already beginning to look battered around the edges. For all the world it looked like plain leather armor, though of course it would protect him against far more. The alloys and plastics they used allowed for any part of his armor to dissipate kinetic energy with remarkable ease. A bullet at close range might alter his path, but it would not punch a hole in him. It wouldn’t even bruise very much. Gauntlets slid on after the vambraces, then cuisses and greaves, followed by incredibly light pauldrons. Barnabas had been informed that armor components had new names now, but he had not taken the time to learn them.

STIRLING GUARD

THMC 01/10

Defensive Armor of a Clansman, that Master Garret, Commander of the Stirling Guard, gave to Rhona and Alastar as they needed to again escape from the sorcerers. They stopped when they reached the armory, where the lieutenant fitted Alastar with leather plates complete with pauldrons for the shoulders and arms, and a tasset belt with a hanging plate to protect the groin.

“Nothing… stronger?” Alastar asked. The lieutenant shook his head. “Not that you’d be able to run in.”

They fitted Rhona in similar attire, though, better made for a woman. She looked the highlander warrior part, with her leather armor over the green dress, now taken in to allow for better running. The lieutenant fitted them each with plaid cloaks that hung over their shoulders to protect them from the cold during the day, and to be used as blankets at night. Alastar cringed at the idea of wearing plaid, but was glad to see it was at least a neutral brown and green, not likely to associate him with any of the major clans who were in ongoing wars with the Order of Rodrick, should any of them have survived.

Donnon had already been equipped, but found himself two flame swords, as he called them, looking over them with awe. Each had a handle that shone with gold and a blade that curved up to the end, so that it resembled an arc of flame. He said the swords must’ve been recovered from one of his kin.
