VC2

Crallus was a slaver/pirate, active in books 2 (Sentinel) and 3(Warden). In Sentinel, he was the leader of the local mercenary group, the syndicate, who had banded together to form their own, small corporation, as it was more profitable in the long run for them to do so. He was in and out of smaller confrontations, nothing of importance, until the group joined the Yennai Corporation. They did so because Yennai would pass information their way regarding cargo shipments, security activities they would be hired for, etc. It costed them a small percentage of their take, but it was judged to be a smart move. Crallus. as their leader, was the contact and assigner of activities from the Yennai. However, their "syndicate", now a part of the Zyennai group, began to not belong to them, as a Torcellan, from the Yennai, was found to have usurped Crallus' power, and was directing the activities of the group. This Torcellan was not named in Sentinel. Always wore heavy robes, and kept his head coverred, so not recognizable.

In Sentinel, the Shinigami was becoming known as a ship to capture, and attempts were done so by a few of the syndicate, unsuccessfully, of course.

In Warden, (#3), the Torcellan becomes known as Uleq, son of the founder of the Yennai Coirp., and also a competitor, with his sister, for the heritage left there when their Father, Koel Yennai, passed awa y (or was assassinated.) Uleq had been one of the prime movers in the KGB Corporation, which Barnabas ruined, and had, since then, become a stronger force in Yennai.

Uleq was very interested in capturing Shinigami, as was another ship, the Zumbir, owned and operated by Zinqued, and independent. Zinqued and Uleq eventually paired up, with a major attempt be them, jointly, to do so, of course failing mightily (Uleq going insane and being killed by Crallus in the final attempt, so both of these major characters met their deaths in Sentinel.

Crallus was not as bad a person as Uleq, as he never tortured and treated others as cruelly as the Yennai wanted him to. He was more of a manipulated person than a leader, but died by killing Uleq, so redeemed his character by a final, heroic act.
