Lilith

Species: Kurtherian

Lilith, an intelligence trapped in a computer in the Boris chronicles, is first seen in Book 3, Revelations, as the companion of Gyada, the being who had been trapped in the cave for centuries, who escaped when the Siberian Base was developed, and the caves opened to exploration. She had bee entrapped there by Michael, as punishment.

Also in the cave was a mad Kurtherian scientist, who had crashed on Earth even before TOM. His name was Chaos Is In Limited Options, CILO and he had tortured his AI, and Gyada, until they were both insane. (See Characters, Chaos is in Limited Options, CILO). When Olaf and his people found Gyada, she could not communicate (fear and isolation- 800 years), and they called her The Beast, and caged her, and because intelligence spoke only Kurtherian, of a dialogue before TOM's time, they first left it alone in the cave, visiting it for contact, and then put it in a Faraday cage, as a protection for all concerned (after two weeks) It also cut off its mental communications with Gyada. Gyada missed her voice. They did supply a device that would transmit a Kurtherian to Russian and a Kurtherian to English dictionary, so that they might start to talk together. Neither TOM nor ADAM could tell her in any detail the abilities this computer might have. It was, to them, a blank book. A complete unknown. TOM wanted to eliminate her (personal cultural). As time passed, and Gyada became more fluent again in languages, she visited the machine in its cage, and began to help form a relationship between the machine and the scientists. TOM and ADAM were called in, of course, to help/ Tom determined that it had been the machine that had begun the species of were-bears in Russia, at the instruction of CILO.

As the intelligence became more fluent in communication, they discovered that it could speak mentally, which sped things up considerably. The intelligence related its history (BC03/13) and began to make its capabilities known. It was an expert on DNA, a genius when it came to manipulating biology, she was far less capable when it came to physical and mechanical technologies. She could maintain their communication links and devices, but had not managed to replicate what TOM had achieved with the shuttlecraft. Nor did they have the capability to make use of the theory she knew. Had been bored over the centuries, and had taught Gyada all she could assimilate.

03/18 The intelligence can choose a name, due to the release of her programming. She and ADAM and all discuss sanity, friendship, value, intelligence. 03/19 EXTENSIVE discussion by Intelligence on CILO, the mad Kurtherian who had come to Earth. She had been his lover, and he murdered her and put her in a box, with programming locks so that she could not tell the truth.

Bethany Anne and ADAM feel she is valuable, and allow her to become a part of the team.

03/20 Intelligence chooses name, Lilith.

03/Epilogue. Lilith chooses to remain on Earth, with Boris and his group, improving their lives and abilities to survive - improved rail guns, tunneling devices for better underground homes, "Black Wheat", a protein-rich growth, growing different modified plants underground. It is also implied in other series that she had something to do with the disappearance of the Madness, leading to the end of the Age of Madness.
