Violence, Need to Fight Shrillexians were known for their need for violence. They hired out as mercenaries, so that they would get paid for it. It devastating their race. When Cheryl Lynn, Yelena and Stephen took over All Guns Blazing Bar, (Team BMW had to get back to work!), they diversified the business by manufacturing their own alcohol and brews, some of them directed at the different alien species, visiting different worlds, finding out what crops they grew, and what crops were cheap or underutilized. On one world they had found a weed that produced a very mellow drink the Shrillexians found pleasant. It gave them a gentle buzz that didn’t cause them to lose situational awareness. Shi-tan started mixing it in his Pepsi at times. In the third week after Shi-tan had started consuming the drink, Bastek noticed he wasn’t as aggressive as normal. To test that theory, Bastek had Shi-tan drink the brew every time he felt like fighting. And almost every time, it had caused Shi-tan to mellow out and overcome the desire to fight. Now Shi-tan and Bastek wanted to negotiate for the rights to an extract. Bastek wanted to produce the product because it would allow the Shrillexian people a chance to stop sending their people off to fight. They had done this for generations, their people often coming back maimed or worse.
TKG 19/8 Bastek had formulated a serum that helped Shrillexians overcome their need for violence without substantially degrading their superior fighting reflexes. What it didn’t do was help the Shrillexians overcome the expectations of their people. Their society was proving to be as responsible for their males’ desire to prove themselves as any biological imperative.
TKG 20/4 The serum was developed, and available to be used by the general public, if they wished. "He wouldn’t need either a battle or the Shrillexian medicine to calm his urges for a while."
