Boris' town of Romanovska had been attacked by Russian forces, some of the townspeople captured and killed by corrupt Russian military forces, the NVG, which Boris called the Spetsnaz. Given that he had sworn allegiance to Bethany Anne, he informed her of these happening, and she offered to take any of his people into space with her that might want to emmigrate. She visited the town and after the townspeople heard her, some of them decided to go with her, many of them decided to stay in the town that they knew and loved.
Boris would escort the emmigrants, in a column, to the Mongolian Border, where they would be picked up. However, the Chinese drug/political being who had corrupted the forces, to try to turn Russia to his own ends, ordered groups of the corrupted military, (the NVG/S[etsnaz) to harass the column, kill some, cause them strife so that they would miss their pick-up date, and so that Boris would lose reputation and validity.
Evgeni Dubrovsky, a Captain of one of these groups of NVG soldiers, had not been corrupted, and was an honest and ethical leader of his group, having trained and vetted them to his way of thinking. When he received his orders to harass the Refugees, he went to the area, supposedly following orders, but instead found the group to have valid concerns, and so turned himself and his men overf to Boris, to fight for their cause. He had a group of sixteen men, who all joined Boris' forces. They named themselves The Spartans, and were a valuable group in helping Boris defend the refugees, and to help find and defeat the Chinese drug Lord (Konrad) who was behind the corruption.
Boris called this group his "Spetsnaz" team.
