With the resources Boris had made available to assist them, they had ended up considering him their effective commander, as did their children today. They wanted to go with him to St. Petersburg. He’d never wanted them to integrate into his realm. That choice was now taken away from him. They were making a statement to anyone who could see that they were a part of his domain. He wanted to protect the Romanovkan people more than anything.
