If I was around, they ran or fought. If they fought, I killed them. If they ran, they were guilty. (These were the protocols Bethany Anne changed when she took over handling the were packs, and some other of Michael's activities.)

Decided he could, Explained idea of his "family, goal to fight Evil, etc.,Calling in "Debt" created when 3 of his men died while assuring military that serum (that would create intelligent Nosferatus) was still in Japan when bombs dropped in 1945 If debt not honored, America in danger. Interviewed with Bethany Anne. Took her to Romania for treatment.

Takes a while to reconstitute in Etheric, (minus any hair except eyebrows), eventually Akio and Yuko find him, get message to Bethany Anne that Michael lives, at which point Bethany Anne turns all of her attention to finding a way back to Earth to reunite with him. Hair has grown back about 1/2" at time of reunion.

Took 150 years to reconstitute atoms in Etheric. Temporarily lost control of mysting skills (couldn't myst into Colorado facility). regained later.
Exited Etheric completely hairless, except for eyebrows. Hair was as 1'4" long when again met with Bethany Anne, growing faster.
Seemed to be more strongly connected to Etheric - didn't need food at all, but chose to eat sometimes- but muscles didn't work as well. Out of shape for the first time in 1000 years!
Chose Jeans, black shirt, black leather trench coat. 2 pistols (Jean Dukes Specials, 5000 rounds ammo), two Wakizashis, one Katana, leather bag to carry.
No cowboy hat in Dark Messiah.
When on ranch with Sarah, worked at chopping wood by restoring his skill at creating a sharp, Etheric Energy Edge along hos forearms, the better to fight. He had been able to do this before, and needed to re-establish it. Also re-learned to grow nails on hands, the better with which to rip out hearts.

In fight with Timmons in Old Denver, Michael gives Gerry energy to turn to Pricolici, and to kill Tommons as revenge for mistreating Jacqueline. gerry asks Michael to take care of and protect her, Michael agrees.

Jan Zwerven,a hatter in Frankfurt, is visited by Akio, Michael, and Sabine. Michael is looking for a hat, something special, that will go with his black leather coat. Michael picks up a Stetson, and Sabine designs his hat.” Right here is a skull, dead center. Behind the skull are Angel wings, with roses laying this side and the other side. There should be flames in the eye sockets…No, no. Scratch that.” “Now, here we need two pistols crossed, above the skull and between the wings.” “What do these pistols look like?” Michael shows him a Jean Duke’s Special. Jan recognizes him as the Patriarch, there to destroy the Duke, and adds “I would like to add Vampire teeth to the skull, and tiny red pinpricks of red to the eye sockets. If you will just promise to wear it when you yank that sonofabitch’s heart out of his chest, then our daughter, Holda, will be avenged. It will be ready for you tomorrow morning.” “I will take some of his blood and consecrate your vengeance so that the hat knows.”
When Michael picked up the hat, he saw “Honor or Death” had been inscribed into the little band, and “ArchAngel” on the back. Michael felt the leather, the indentations that made the skull look like it had been carved of ebony marble. He reached up and placed the hat on his head, then tipped it a little forward. Jan watched him smile.

Michael gave him a small vial, filled with a special liquid, for him to drink. “When we leave, close and lock the door and drink this, then lie down.” He handed the vial to Jan. “Make sure you destroy the vial and get rid of any evidence that it was around.” “What do I do when I wake up?” Jan asked, Michael considered the man a moment. “Know that your vengeance is complete and your responsibility for your daughter to your wife is done. Allow your sorrow to go down the drain and decide when you look in the mirror in the morning, what the next stage of your life will be.” When he awoke, he was young again
