Mrs. Grimes was originally a servant/worker in Billy Sipe's Barracks, where he housed his security men. Her duties were to clean, keep the men fed. she was an older woman, who knew how and when to survive.

When TH came along and straightened out the security situation, she still kept house for the barracks, but was treated much more civilly, with all of the respect and attention that TH could see that she got. When TH's group went onto the War Axe, into space, she came along with the group, managing the kitchen and mess hall on the ship. She and her wooden spoon! Carried the name Jenelope Grimes, mostly Jenelope. Was also known as the "new Mrs Grimes", to distinguish here from John Grime's wife, Jean Dukes.
